I just tested with i3 and selecting a window works there. So it's pretty likely that the problem is related to fluxbox.

First thing to try would be to open the Debug Window (which can be found in the Help menu) and look if you see something there when you expect messages...
For `rsvg-convert` it needs `librsvg2-bin` on Linux Mint (and probably other Debian based distros).
