It's very oddly hit and miss for me too. It works in Facerig and OBS for me, but doesn't work in Discord or in Firefox/Chrome. Tested at https://webcamtests.com/

Same issue nearly a year later in 2025 on version 141.0.3. There's been no update to the extensions for either browser for 1 year and 5 months.
Worth noting that Fences does not have this issue (though it has many other issues that Portals is thankfully better at handling), and it stays up even when using Win+D...

I was using the Firefox build because it had more functionality, but with this change Mozilla's policies are forcing does that mean the userscript will now be the more functional...
