I have the same issue. it appears proxychains doesn't work with yihack5 there does not appear to be a fix at this point.
With hackv5 the app won't work (proxychains doesn't seem to work) With hackv4 the app will work (enable proxychains), I've been using Yi Home 3.7.5
The only real gap imho with not having the app is the inability to program pre-sets... I have my cams feeding into frigate which is working well.
@alienatedsec that should be an option, I actually renamed mp4record and recbackup (in the /home/app directory for anyone reading this..)
24 or so hours in, still working fine :) But agreed it's a rough solution
