Just tried with Plotly, and the latest Plotly (0.4.1) seems to be compatible with ShortCodes 0.3.3, so closing this issue.

I experience the same problem on Windows 10. Is it not supported, or can it be added to this issue (or should I open a new issue for windows)?
Short DOIs were used to save space (every character counts in grant applications), but I can understand people would prefer more recognizable standard DOIs. I will have another look at...
