A different patch fixing the problem was applied to master in 60738fedede1746922a8b227f24ad5c733661585.
OpenWrt does not apply any patches on ixgbe, I would suggest to report this regression to the upstream kernel maintainers, this is probably a general problem in the upstream kernel....
