on macOS execute brew install snappy and pip install snappy (not python-snappy)
A a workaround you can use a build of the Zulu-JDK with FX support. Make sure to use JDK FX version 11, since it's the only one that works https://www.azul.com/downloads/?version=java-11-lts&os=macos&architecture=arm-64-bit&package=jdk-fx...
