I think a small "warning" in the README would be nice, along the lines of "this might take a while, don't abort until you get the result message".
This would be a huge upgrade, we use mermaid quite a lot for documentation at work.
I had the same issue, for me the problem was with using the snap version. Installing the .deb package (same version) and copy to clipboard works just fine!
