The issue persists and is pretty problematic
i think a much more reasonable approach would be for rofi to stop eating modifier keys and let me switch the keyboard layout or anything else i want to do

Oh so you're basically saying that repaint isn't called unless we scroll + my hypothesis that the recorded stream = interacted stream. That actually explains a lot of things, thanks!
