Allright, the only thing y'all need to do is follow the dts/dtb instructions here: https://github.com/swkim01/waveshare-dtoverlays Basically copy the dtb file to your /boot/overlay/, add dtoverlay=waveshare35a to config.txt, reboot. Done :)
yes should work for rpi1-3. I had it plugged on my 2 and 3, dunno where my 1 is
well if it shows your cli during boot then it works, you're just suffering some misconfiguration. Xorg and fbcp setup properly?

yeah, it's quite similar. OpenBSD also supports ptrace, so using the freebsd bits could work. will try it out sometime next week.
