it's used for alternative clients (mainly mobile imageboard viewing apps)
It would also be useful in `/api/v1/accounts/{id}` responses, so clients can show roles too (open mastodon issue from 2018 https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/7108#issuecomment-395953636)
and something similar for full-grown amethyst clusters
