I think drag & drop navigator panes are awesome. It just saves a few keystrokes, but it's very helpful for structuring a longer document.
I don't see the need for this and I think it would be UI clutter. There are other apps specifically designed for Markdown slides, some of which have MathJax functionality....
Typora uses MathJax for real-time rendering, so there's no preamble to deal with (thank goodness). I personally would like to see XyJax, but that's really up to the XyJax dev....
