I found that in the actual step that detects spikes based on thresholds it is also overwritten: main_kilosort.m line 29 -> datashift2.m line 27 "spkTh = 8" instead of "spkTh=ops.spkTh"....

Okay I got it to work by doing the following: conda uninstall pysoundfile pip install soundfile (this caused vocalpy to uninstall, so then I did) conda install vocalpy -c conda-forge...
I downgraded vocalpy to version 0.9.3 and now feature.sat.similarity_features() runs fine in my notebook
