I'm not 100% sure why, but this issue may point to an important clue: https://github.com/mwaterfall/MWPhotoBrowser/issues/620 When I returned "nil" for my caption view for my Media, the problem went away....
+1 to creating a MS-provided SwiftUI example. We won't consider using this framework until there is SPM support as well as a SwiftUI quick start example.
