I was having this same problem (Vim 8, Win7), and the quick fix by @thronecode also worked for me.

Thanks for the heads up! It's probably a degrees of freedom issue. I'll look into it when I get the chance.

I would love to see a gist or something of how you patched this in. Could be very useful for users of other themes as well.
