We ran in to this issue last week. In our case, it means that it's not possible to use https://charts.jetstack.io/index.yaml through an Octopus feed because Octopus relies on semantic versioning....

@SgtCoDFish - The issue that you mention is related to a Docker Container Registry external feed, not a Helm Feed. Octopus do have an [issue](https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/Issues/issues/6800) related to non-semver Helm charts...
