this is on a 1400x1050 CRT, it only get worse once you move to widescreen/FHD and beyond

(from #469) after building sqlite-jdbc with `cc` (doesn't really matter which compiler, i have all three of gcc, clang, or sunpro), sqlite-jdbc fails to create _new_ database file with error...
