This appears to be an ongoing issue. Workaround is to remove alias, restart plugin to generate certificate, and then re-add alias. see: https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/issues/1331#issuecomment-1146531005

+1 for this feature. This causes a lot of confusion for our users.
