After further investigation, the issue may not be specific to `arguments`, but to a missing implementation of [Object.prototype.valueOf](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Object/valueOf) ([spec](https://tc39.es/ecma262/multipage/fundamental-objects.html#sec-object.prototype.valueof)).
