this cc25d420f0ea77c427510da3488d36f26ce9a443 should fix the gap, and maybe orientation

What version of gnome shell? 3.6 should work. 3.4.x support is not currently completed (buggy version in gnome3.4 branch), however I will try to get that done soon.
