I get this on macOS with iTerm2 3.2.9. I have no issues in the native Terminal.app, alacritty, and Therm.
That does prevent the error and allow a successful connection.
This would be great! I too have this issue.
Anecdotally, I've seen more [AppImages](https://appimage.org/) lately than Flatpaks, although it seems to be a similar idea. Maybe that's worth consideration?

In case it's helpful, codex 0.53.0 works with chruby on Ubuntu 24.04 (running in a WSL 2 VM). I can, however, reproduce the issue on macOS 26.0.1. So, I'm guessing...
