I had a similar issue, also on macOS, several times with axel version 2.17.7 (darwin18.7.0) I interrupted, or the download was interrupted because of network issues, 3 big file downloads...

The "info threads" that is above lists only 1 thread. Doesn't this mean that there is only 1 thread? Edited: here is the "thread apply all bt" result. ``` (gdb)...
