I'm glad I'm not the only person wondering about this! >It is a deliberate design choice that kable() only generates simple tables. 👍 :-) And we can still get creative...

I'm still having this issue (/easily able to replicate it 😜 ) using R from conda-forge. ``` conda list | grep "r-base" r-base 4.1.1 hc29f753_2 conda-forge ``` https://anaconda.org/conda-forge/r-base

The conda-forge build [does not support M1 chips yet](https://github.com/conda-forge/r-fs-feedstock/pull/19), which is why I tried to build natively, which is how I got here. If we can get it building, I'll...

Looks like this built ok... Is this ready to merge?

Looks like there's one error in one build: ``` * creating vignettes ... ERROR Error: Error: processing vignette 'function-comparisons.Rmd' failed with diagnostics: could not find function "pandoc_math_engines" Execution halted ```...

👍 for parasail, as it supports proteins alignments as well, addressing #42. Also @jeffdaily is nice.

1) parasails most consistent improvement is with global alignments, when prefix scan is used. See [Fig 3](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4748600/figure/Fig3/). This is a great fit for amplicon search and clustering. Like you said,...

I'm sorry there has been funding issues :-( I may have mentioned this before, but www.github.com/jeffdaily/parasail library offers pairwise alignment of amino acids with optimization for the SSE2, SSE4.1, AVX2,...
