I run into the same issue with a portrait shot: I was in the need to extend it to the right and continue the color gradient over the new picture...
As a workaround I can return an object? that I can cast back to a FooStruct. This, obviously, is not a solution and far from being optimal.

The cause of the trouble is when you have a WPF Application but no local namespace. Then the baml code only contains the header ` M S B A M...
So instead of reverting the commit above it would be better to fix proper detection of code that does not have a local namespace. Unfortunately I have no clue how...
