That's what I did, I used mosquitto_pub, and was happy to do it since it was the first time ever using it and loved to learn how to do it....
I'm having the same issue when building on Linux Mint, I'd appreciate if anyone had a solution for this. Thanks!
Just found a comment in [issue #6](https://github.com/patrickbusch/homebridge-docker/issues/6): removing '.bak' from the sed command in homebridge.sh seems to fix this issue.
