Yea, looks like it is actually an issue on their end, I opened one on there: https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/48235 I also noticed if you don't include metrics it works fine.
I didn't realize there is a command line option for picking the backend. Getting into the habit of using that should fix this problem for me.
+1 Currently there is no way from the gui to enter a value for a spa.Input, which is one of the main things you'd want to use it for.
