I am experiencing the same issue. Restarting generally brings them back for me but I'm not sure what triggers the disappearance.

I should probably mention that you can add a space in the author name (author:"test test") using the vanilla /give command, just not through the EssX command.
Have you tried this with the config option `use-nbt-serialization-in-createkit` set to `true`?
