I think this is probably the same bug as #893 (trying to resize the window to 0x0 pixels and all hell breaking loose). Can you check if its fixed now?
Filter deletion per se is not currently possible due to some awkwardness in the data model. Tl;dr filters are reference counted and self-delete (in theory, there are resource leakage bugs...

This seems like it's a communications problem between the Linux USBTMC driver and the scope, not something we can fix on the ngscopeclient/libscopehal side. Not sure if it's the scope's...
