Keep in mind that this App is unmaintained. With ownCloud 9.0 we have rewritten the whole calendar and contatcs app and moved CalDAV and CardDAV Backends to the ownCloud Core...

Searching for duplicates is an good idea. I've opened an Issue about that in the contacts app. You're welcome to discuss and add new enhancements (or even develop them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)...
