It is most likely a port forwarding issue. You have to open some ports in your router and specify those in iSoul preferences. Take a look here http://portforward.com/ for instance.
Yep, the encoding issues come from the slsk network nature, but we could do something about it in the future, like making encoding switch on the fly for chat messages...
The two exceptions I see in the log are both from the 'unrecognized selector' issue that happens when you open a folder in the download/upload view for the first time....
