This is an issue in stock Ubuntu 16.04 with Unity as well. The window opens in the background after clicking `Show` in the "tray" icon menu.

This is getting more frequent lately, now every second to third suspend causes a kernel panic. I'll try to blacklist `mei` and `mei_me` modules now as suggested [here](https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86241#c53).
Blacklisting `mei` and `mei_me` seems to have no effect. I just had another crash last night. I'm now trying [the patch](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1415880) mentioned by @jessevondoom .

You need to set a breakpoint somewhere. How else would you want to debug?
