By the end of this PR, creating `Var` or `BaseVar` would be deprecated in favor of `ImmutableVar`.
it would be cool to not need rosetta to run fnm on newer MacOS devices! (we can't particularly use homebrew)
As that package version is unusable, it must be yanked as soon as possible. A separate hotfix should be done but only after the package is back at a working...
