I would like to voice a concern that in the case of an official mobile app--I'd want the customizations from the desktop version to still work on the mobile app....
CTRL W behaves exactly as you'd describe the new action/shortcut would behave, it doesn't close the entire tab it closes the current split--or at least command+w does on my Mac....
