I stumbled on [medium link](https://medium.com/androiddevelopers/restore-recyclerview-scroll-position-a8fbdc9a9334) Looks like since RecyclerView 1.2.0 we can set [StateRestorationPolicy](https://developer.android.com/reference/androidx/recyclerview/widget/RecyclerView.Adapter.StateRestorationPolicy) . Maybe this can be leveraged, if not already...
