I would suggest https://playwright.dev/python/ It integrates well with pytest, which might be a good option for non-ui tests.

Any interest in adding [reStructuredText](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReStructuredText) support as an alternative markdown format? Maybe this could be leveraged?: https://github.com/sbisbee/node-pandoc
