Grenades damaging ships isn't really a problem. The shrapnel will be something like high density glass, it'll tear up bodies but just shatter if it hits metal.
This doesn't need a fix. It's easy to do. Just copy the keys.txt file to something like Default Keys.bak then change key bindings. copy the new keys.txt to My Keys.bak...
