Looks like [opsgenie/kubernetes-event-exporter](https://github.com/opsgenie/kubernetes-event-exporter) already [supports SNS](https://github.com/opsgenie/kubernetes-event-exporter/blob/master/pkg/sinks/sns.go) so I might not actually work on this and use that instead. FYI: AWS just launched [bottlerocket-ecs-updater](https://github.com/bottlerocket-os/bottlerocket-ecs-updater) which safely and gracefully updates nodes using Bottlerocket as their OS! I think that'll solve the AMI upgrades for most of my usecases 🤞
