With the new release, 3.22, just should be fixed. Let me know if that version works for you @TonisPiip. Thank you very much @marts for your solution to this issue.
The workaround doesn't fix this issue anymore. Anyone found a new workaround compatible with hvad==1.8.0 and django 1.11?

I have the same issue when saving an image through django rest framework. Where should I put this piece of code @stopdesign ?
