This is caused by an old bug in `absl-py` that has already been [fixed](https://github.com/abseil/abseil-py/commit/d61b0b6bda1902f645e5bbbc3f138c142767befa). That fix however happened after version `0.9`, which the log shows to be an upper bound....
It worked! I tried it in a fresh virtual environment on Ubuntu 22.04.3 with Python 3.10, pip 24.0, setuptools 69.5.1 running in WSL 2 and it worked like a charm....
