I'm also getting this weird behavior when compiling for TARGET=i486-linux-musl
I just had a config.mak issue. I simply did try to build with i686-linux-musl, but I've compiled i686-linux-musl successfully with the i686-linux-gnu-gcc package from ubuntu. You should add a explanation...

I have the same issue with [Chroma Endless](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/chroma-endless) (also a Forge modpack, though 1.16.5). Setting the read and write deadline to `time.Minute` fixed it.
