Edge to Curve & Blender 3.1 error

I can't reproduce this in 3.1.2, what did have selected?

Enable Edge Loops and Edge Rings with "Select Circle"

I would also like this to be supported, in my case I want a times on the y axis and dates on the x axis, which I'm guessing is not...
