This makes sense and is technically possible as [OpenSSL supports SHA-3](https://www.openssl.org/docs/man1.1.1/man3/EVP_sha3_256.html). The only significant complexity is that SHA-3 is only exposed via the EVP APIs rather than the legacy APIs...
