+1 just ran into this same issue today, task never comes online due to init containers firing before the istio sidecar is online.
I don't think thats a reasonable solution as our end goal here is to run istio successfully while using awx-operator, which we can do now we just have to pause...
We use https://github.com/r3kzi/clamav-prometheus-exporter as a sidecar to the clamav pod and it does well in that regard, I'm not sure clamav needs this functionality directly in the base code.
