If anyone's still interested, VSTi support would be viable now as [VST 3 has been relicensed to MIT](https://forums.steinberg.net/t/vst-3-8-0-sdk-released/1011988).
By the way, I feel the need to pre-emptively defend this PR a bit. It was pointed out to me that you could have always just included `hooks.h` to bypass...
