mupdf includs zlib.h in mucbz.c.
Ah, greyscale to 4bit is the culprit! No password protected cbr-files anymore. More password protected comic-trackers, though.

Just ran CR2 and CR3 for windows and both cannot read cbr- nor cbz-files. CR2 opens cbr-files and shows the list of jpg-files, but cannot open anything on the list....
Apparently, Koreader doesn't know where to look for your dictionaries. On android (Onyx Boox Note Pro) I set my dictionary location to an arbritary folder by creating a text file...
