Is this still relevant or needed? The patches repo now has contribution guidelines that seems to cover everything.
Try including `hide ads` during patching, and turn off the various hide ad types in the ReVanced settings. See if you can find which function changes the back button.
This bug report is old and it might have been fixed. If the issue is still present, then reopen this issue and post any new information.

The issue commonly starts when a Short is opened from the Shorts section of a users page. I tried patching 18.38.44, 18.43.45, 18.49.36, 19.01.34, and all had the same problem....
Problem still exists with `17.33.42`.
I agree there is not much that can be done
