Ive done some further research into dumpkeys itself (as i had some suspicions) and it looks like dumpkeys is not working as expected? The link bellow shows an incorrect output...

This problem is indeed due to dumpkeys using reading kernel keymap, while wayland is using xkb layouts, using xkbcomp to resolve the keyboard layout would probably be a better alternative...
