I've run into this as well and was going to draft up a PR for a replacement regex, but I'm not sure what requirements we want to support for versioning....

It looks like this is running into: 1. Pathing issues - we use: `GIT_ROOT=$(dirname "${BASH_SOURCE[0]}")/../` to path vs something robust to where it is run like: `GIT_ROOT=$(git rev-parse --show-toplevel)` 2....
@yanghanlin I was never able to get any engagement on this. I tried poking people on slack too, but no one ever responded. I had made this to get everything...
