@taanders you can achieve this like 3utools is doing right now..they are matching the ex factory battery serial number with current battery serial number if does not match they show...
not sure from where they ready ex factory battery serial number. @nikias please advice where to pick the ex factory battery serial value

@taanders it seems issue with DeviceIoControl but 3utools and itunes is also using DeviceIoControl and able to restore the device with latest drivers as well...not sure might be possible they...
