Great to see some progress. This was not only happening with this tiny point data set. I did find some other data sets also caused crashing too.
Quite not enough follproof to trick me. I get following error in third_party __cmake .._ command: _CMake Error: The source directory "/PyMesh/third_party" does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt._

In my humble opinion this is bit odd default behavior. In some applications this might be acceptable but in most cases one might want to have two totally separate views...
