I'd also request this for landscape mode. On a very wide-screen phone, the keyboard is far too wide, even when in compact, side mode. Swipe becomes almost impossible.

Yes, but it is in Beta and requires some ongoing patience. Long press [Enter] to open Settings ... then Gestures (the squiggle icon at the bottom right of the screen)
